Živim u Novskoj, gdje imam mali studio za digitalni tisak i svoj atelijer. Nakon završetka Akademije Likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, sudjelovala sam u poslijediplomskom doktorskim studiju u Katowicama u Poljskoj. Od kad znam za sebe, inspirirala me priroda – i taj izvor inspiracije koristim do danas.
Koristim citat iz kataloga jedne izložbe, gdje je kustosica prof. Jelena Batinić, dobro opisala sto istinski volim i želim prenijeti u svojim radovima:
„(…) Marija već niz godina u svom radu poseže za animalističkim motivima. Njezine životinje nekada su hiperrealističke, a nekad samo početna tema koja vodi u svijet prepun energije i sirove snage. (…) Od početne prepoznatljivosti motiva slikarica razvijajući temu sve više apstrahira formu. Tako dovršeno djelo postaje, slučajno ili namjerno, amalgam sačinjen od figurativnog i apstraktnog dijela. Slobodan potez kista oslobođen je od bilo kakve deskripcije. Ona ima snagu, dinamiku i nosi svu energiju slike. Pokret koji dominira personifikacija je snage životinja.“
I live in Novska (Croatia), where I have a small digital printing studio and my own atelier. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, I participated in a postgraduate doctoral study in Katowice, Poland. Ever since I can remember, I have been inspired by nature – and I continue to use that source of inspiration to this day.
I’m using a quote from an exhibition catalog, where the curator, Prof. Jelena Batinić, well described what I truly love and want to convey in my works:
“(…) Marija has been reaching for animalistic motifs in her work for a number of years. Her animals are sometimes hyperrealistic, and sometimes just an initial theme that leads into a world full of energy and raw power. (…) From the initial recognisability of the motif, Marija, developing the theme, increasingly abstracts the form. Thus, the completed work becomes, accidentally or intentionally, an amalgam made up of figurative and abstract parts. The free stroke of the brush is free from any description. It has strength, dynamics and carries all the energy of the painting. The movement that dominates is the personification of the strength of animals.”
